Hyver Hill, Mill Hill

Challenge

The challenge at Hyver Hill was to restore the character of a period property while adapting it for modern living. Original architectural features had been softened over time and needed careful reinstatement, with new elements required to complement—rather than compete with—the home’s Georgian heritage and the client’s existing pieces.

Concept

The concept focused on respectful restoration. Intricate Georgian coving and reinstated fireplaces re-established the home’s original proportions and elegance, with the red marble fireplace in the dining room acting as a key reference point for colour and material choices throughout the house. The design concept focused on enriching the home with a warm, comforting palette and soft, tactile finishes. We introduced creamy brick tones in the kitchen and living areas, blended with warm taupes and gentle beiges that created a calm, cohesive backdrop throughout. Curves became a central motif, echoing the beautiful curved roofline in one of the bedrooms and subtly repeating this form in joinery, accessories, and key furnishings.

Outcome

A contemporary kitchen was introduced and carefully balanced with original timber floors and traditional detailing. Across the rest of the home, a blend of new furnishings and the client’s original pieces refreshed each space, resulting in a timeless interior where period character and modern living sit comfortably together.
