Challenge

This newly built lakeside property offered sweeping views and a stunning natural setting, so creating generous windows and dedicated spaces to enjoy the outlook was paramount. The brief was to shape a calm and tranquil retreat — somewhere to unwind, reset, and feel truly at ease — while maintaining a minimalist, Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic that celebrated simplicity, natural light, and the beauty of the surroundings.

Concept

The design concept centred around bringing the outdoors in through a restrained, nature-led palette and honest, tactile materials. Soft neutral tones, pale woods, and subtle textures were layered to create warmth without introducing visual clutter. Clean lines and considered proportions formed the backbone of the scheme, carefully balancing minimalism with comfort.

Natural materials were prioritised throughout — light oak, linen, stone, and wool — to echo the lakeside environment and evoke a sense of quiet luxury. Furnishings were kept deliberately simple, with timeless silhouettes and a focus on quality over quantity. Every piece was chosen to enhance stillness and clarity within the space, allowing the architecture and the surrounding landscape to remain the hero.
